I rarely do movie reviews. I tend to give away the movie instead of hinting and leaving suspense, but I have to say something about this movie. Oh my God, this movie is fucking great!!!!
You know that my main occupation is an accountant, so I had to go watch this. This movie could have gone sideways because most people think accountants are boring stuffy people. Which is a false stereotype that can be very annoying. They even played that up in the movie too.
I expected to have a more of a suspense where government tried to follow lead to apprehend said corrupt accountant or something like that. I didn't expect a semi-action film. It was AWESOME!!!!! I want to be that accountant. What school do I need to go to, to learn what he has.
A serious thought though, I believe that this movie highlighted, in a positive way, neurological and psychological issues that effect may people; autism and similar issues. They did it in a great way; the harsh and the healing.
I must say this movie blew me away. I have to stop here or I will spill the tea on the rest of this movie. It was the best movie so far this fall.

The Ultimate Avengers
So JH, my bro, his girlfriend and I went to the Ultimate Marvel movie marathon. This marathon consisted of us sitting thru the following:
Iron Man
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor (3D)
Captain America (3D)
The Avengers (3D) - Midnight Premier
We were in the theater from 10 am and left around 3 am the next day. It's a very long time sitting in a theater. They did give us breaks between each movie. It was awesome. I have never done a movie marathon before. I felt like we were at comic-con. People were dressed up as their favorite hero from the series. There weren't any fights or arguments at all. It was a peaceful and exciting times.
It was great. You got a refresher of the movies that was paving the way for the Avengers movie; eggs and all. The theater they used was nice and actually comfortable. Only bad side of he night was the lack of air conditioning. It really made it feel like a comic-con. You know, all misty and male b.o..
Here's my spoiler:
Avengers movie was OMFG absolutely f'n awesome with a side of wholly shit, I have died and went to heaven. Can you tell how much I loved this movie? I must go see it again!!!!!! This is not a review, but my opinion of a movie that made me spend a whole day in a movie theater. And it was so worth it!!!!
How do you get 5 super heroes to cooperate? Blackmail them. But I must say the Hulk stole the whole movie. I loved him. He had the best lines. He did an awesome job. I must say I like this Banner/Hulk a bit better than Norton's. This one has a bit more humanity than Norton's. Many will disagree with me but we all have our own opinions. This is mine. One of the best scene with Banner was when Black Widow went to request his presence. He was totally f'in with her.
The infighting within the team was fun too. Loki was enjoying himself with that. But it was cool how equal they were to each other. The Thor and Hulk fight was funny. There fight paused and concluded at Stark Tower when both were taking on a villain. After the villain succumbed Hulk punched Thor out of the blue and sent him flying.
The next best scene is when Hulk again arrives at Stark tower when Loki's there. Loki talks to him saying he should bow down to God like him, then in mid sentence Hulk flung Loki in semi circles like a rag doll, walked off and said, "puny God". I laughed my ass off on that scene and still laughing about it as I type this paragraph.
The best scene of the movie was the whole movie. My favorite line scene is when Thor, Black Widow, Hawk eye, and Captain America was regrouping and Banner shows up. They notify Iron Man and he says he's bringing the party to them. Then they see the creature coming, Captain says to Banner: "ok. You can get mad". Banner replies, "...I'm always mad!" He automatically turns into the Hulk. Then when Captain start assigning roles, he tells Hulk' "you smash" You should see the joy in the Hulks face. He likes to smash.
This movie was so awesome. I know I'm being redundant right now. But seriously, I haven't been this excited over a movie in a while. I was eagerly awaiting this movie for a year. It could've been a let down. It was fanfuckingtastic as this reviewer stated. OMG I so want to see sequel and all. If you haven't seen this movie, go do that right now. I will give you a note to your boss. My fiancé and I will babysit. Just get out and go watch this movie. You just have to.

John Carter No More
John Carter opened this past weekend and pulled in $30 million. That may be a lot of mullah for us lay people, but for Hollywood, that's a bust. John Carter cost $250 million to make. They only recouped 12% of the cost. However, it did open 2nd to the Lorax. This was the Lorax's week out.
John Carter is a movie based on the book "Princess of Mars". It's about a man in colonial times who lost his family and refused to continue to fight for the union against the Indians. He finds himself transported to Mars and ends up fighting for a country being conquered by another. This is the short version of the story.
The movie was great, but you wouldn't know that. Neither would I if my fiance didn't take me to see it. Disney did not Market this movie well at all. It is solely their fault in this movie tanking. The trailers for this movie made no sense at all. I kept wondering what this movie is about. Imagery alone does not make a movie sell. I'm sure it also through the rest of the population off.
I was reading an article the other day, wish I saved it to link it, that discussed how Disney's marketing team has gotten so bad. Disney used to be great at marketing. They had population running to see the movies, buy the dvds, and any and all merchandise. Then somehow, they took a turn to only marketing to girls excluding boys. This was their focus for a while. Then they realized they lost a big demographic. So they purchased Marvel in order to try to get the boys back. They did promise to leave Marvel alone. They are doing well with them. Eveyone's dying for the Avengers' movie. However, they ended up hurting themselves.
Disney needs to revamp their marketing team or they should just hire outside the company for marketing. Marketing is making them lose money hand over fist. Something needs to be done. John Carter was a good movie and it left us with a cliff hanger. I doubt they will produce a sequel because this movie is tanking. I do hope it at least makes up the cost in the coming weeks.
My rating is B+ for the movie and F- for Disney's Marketing team.

Girl W/ Dragon Tattoo: US vs Sweden
****If you have not read the book or seen the movie, there are big spoilers in this review.****
I have read the Girl with The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Upon reading the book, I watched the original Swedish movie made from the book. The movie was superb. The actress who played Lisbeth Salander was great. She portrayed the quirkiness and antisocial Lisbeth very compatible to the book.
For those who haven't read the book, it's about a man, Blomkvist, in search of a murdered teenager after he has been disgraced in journalism. The case takes on a more hazardous tone as he gets help on the case by Salandar.
I picked up the book a year without any idea what the book was about. I just saw a ton of people reading it on the subway. I had to read it. I was sucked in immediately. I found the original Swedish movie on Netflix. They also have the next 2 movies for the next 2 books. I will read each book before I watch. I personally can't watch a movie and go back to the book. It just defeats the fun of reading. Anyway, I digress.
When I heard that the American Movie Studios were remaking the Swedish films I was quite disappointed. All that means was it was going to be dumbed down to fit the American "politically correct" and "sexual taboo" environment. Americans are way too sensitive to a lot of things, but this is a topic for another post. I heard rumors through blogs and press that the movie studios were rewriting the script because the subject matter was too graphic for American audience. The same audience that like movies that kill and mutilate people; Saw, Texas Chainsaw for examples.
The actors chosen for the parts were ok. I don't think Rooney Mara was a good choice for Salalndar. Her face is to roundish for the character from the book. Her portrayal was not as good as original but she did a bang up job. She committed to the role. She just didn't feel like Salander to me. She was trying to act like Salandar. It's like someone trying to imitate another.
The character of Bjurman in the Swedish film was cruel, sadistic and conniving. He was heartless and showed no fear. He played the role just like the character in the book. In he American movie he was a mean but yet timid man. He was was cruel to Salandar and when she retaliated he nearly wet his pants. In reality, Bjurman was not completely scared of Salandar, he was scared for the tape to be released. He was angry throughout. He hates her. If he could, he would murder her. The American Bjurman didn't even portray him correctly at all. If they are going to do the next movie, how are they going to pull that off? You can't change his personality between 2 movies.
Daniel Craig did a good job at playing Blomkvist. I have no qualms about his portrayal. Skarsgad played Martin Vanger extremely well too. The rest of the cast was cast well enough. Overall, I like the cast except for the two I pointed out. The movie itself surprised me after hearing all the rumors. They didn't change the story at all like the rumors said. They were even pretty graphic. They did cut out few graphics that original had.
What I didn't like is that they included footage of events from the second book at the beginning. You don't really get any background on Salandar in the first book except for what she chosen to divulge. The love scene in which Salandar and Blomkvist, in the American version, she confesses to him that she burned her father was untrue in the facts of the first book and Swedish movie. She never admits it Blomkvist at all. Again, I don't know how they are going to fix the 2nd movie regarding this. There are a lot of gaping issues they revealed prematurely.
If I had to grade this movie, I would give it a B-. I liked the movie but the character issues and the adding more detail than necessary made hurt it's chances. As a standalone, not relating to original movie or book, it was good.

Movie Bonanza
So far this weekend we've made it to 2 movies; Captain America and Transformers: Darkside of The Moon. Both are great movies. I am a great fan of action and Marvel movies.
Friday night we saw Captain. It was a good. Better the previous attempts. Captain is not my favorite Marvel character. He's a bit too good. He doesn't have spunk. However, I did want to see the movie because it ties into the Avengers' movie coming in May 2012. It was done very well. Plus I like Chris Evans. He reminds me of my boyfriend. I wonder how they were going to make the tie in to the Avengers. I won't make a spoiler here. But they did it very well. Thank you writers. I also have to thank my brother for getting me into Marvel in the 1st place.
Once again because if my brother, I grew up watching the Transformers cartoon series. I watch the original series until Beastwars. I stopped when the Japanese made their version. Bah. I was in excited when I heard they were making a movie. Now Darkside is the 3rd and final movie. I'm bummed about that. I so want Bumblebee and Ironhide. The movies are great. This last movie Was 2 hours and 40 minutes long. You didn't feel it when you are watching it. You must see this movie. It is great. I so can't wait to get it on DVD. This was how I spent my evening. Watching prime kick some ass.
This 1st half of the summer has put out some great movies. Sadly the 2nd half does not hold any promises. Maybe the Fall or Winter will provide some.

The Complete And Final End of Potter
I am an avid Potter fan. Had most of the books in hard cover. Now I have them digitally. The books were great. I made a post here discussing the end of the book series. This post now will discuss the end of the movie series.
The movie series were extremely well made. Most book to movie transitions lack the fine details from the book and/or the storyline is somewhat changed. Warner Bros did a great job staying true to the book. I understand they have to take a lot out of the book to make the movie. If they kept all in, movie would probably by 6 hours long. For what they have done in max 2.5 hrs is fantastic. I'm gushing, I know.
The last movie based on the final book was split into 2 movies. It was merely for financial reasons than people staying in the theater for 4 or more hours. I'm sure all die hard Potter fans would sit thru it if it were. I'm not die hard, but I would. The movies never has a lull. It's constantly entertaining. I digress again.
The 1st part took more of Harry looking to find more Horcruxes while Voldemort was searching for the Elder wand. At end, Voldemort found the wand.
The final movie picks up directly from the end of part 1. Harry & friends has 4 more Horcruxes to find: Harry himself, the tiara, the cup and the snake. All the while his friends at Hogwarts are rebelling against Snape and Voldemort's rule. Both teams coincide when Harry knows that a Horcrux is at Hogwarts. This is when shit hits the fan. If Harry didn't have V to deal with, he had Malfoy with his goons to deal with ; on top of issues finding the Horcrux. In midst of fighting, Harry dies voluntarily, since he is a Horcrux himself. Of course he comes back to life and ends up killing V. The movie ends 19 years later when Harry and friends bring their children to the station for passage to Hogwarts.
After the movie ended, I didn't feel empty or disappointed. I felt a bit of withdrawal after the final book. The final movie wasn't as memorable as the book. Or is it, the magic has left me? I may have outgrown it. I don't know. I do think JK Rowling should come up with little novellas based on the realm and people in all 8 books. I wouldn't want it to become a movie though. I do buy the DVDs for the movies. It's a series I'd watch again and would want my child to watch. It does have a 2 great lessons that stands out.
1. How to overcome adversity with honesty and courage when the stacks are set against you.
2. It may be hard to do the right thing but if go thru the struggle you will come out at the top in the end.
