I'm Tired Off Reading & Hearing About...

I can't keep some stupid injustices to myself and not say something about it. I'm tired of reading and hearing about this.

1. Man hits on woman, she rejects him. He continues to hit on her. She continues to reject him. Does he get the hint and go find someone else? No. He follows her outside of the club and shoots her in the chest, killing her.

2. Man cat-calls college girl on street after Blizzard 2016. She ignores him. So he drives close and through a large puddle to soak her.

3. Man cat-calls woman walking to her job. She ignores him. He assaults her and then rapes her.

This is NOT okay. If a woman does not want to be bothered with you, move on. Why be violent? Men today are just a bunch of punks who can't take rejection.

WOMEN are not OBJECTS to fuckin' own. We do not have to like you. Move the fuck on if we tell you to buzz off. There are more women out there. Find one that will like you back.

First of all, any man that cat-calls is just a jackass in the first place. It doesn't show how hot you are. All it shows is how much of a dog you are.

If you can't take rejection without getting violent or vindictive, then you need to go to therapy or just check yourself into the nearest prison. That's where you belong if you continue this trend.

Women if you find yourself in these sort of predictions and it seems to be heading towards violence. CALL 9-1-1 and press charges. It is not okay to be harassed.

Assholes Get's The Finger

Yesterday I had a wonderful lunch with my husband. As with standard practice and love, he walks me close to my job and kisses me goodbye. So yesterday when he did that, there happen to be a bunch of Black guys (around ages 20-40) who was chatting at the corner. I saw them when we walked up, but I didn't care about them whatsoever. When the kiss happened the jaws dropped. My husband, who's oblivious to everyone around him went on his way after the kiss leaving me with the guys. This is the conversation as they followed me to my destination across the avenue.

Guy 1: Yo! You gonna let him kiss on you?
Me: Yep
Guy 2: So you gonna let a brother kiss on you?
Me: If he was my husband, then yes.
Guy 3: But you let that White dude kiss on you.
Me: Exactly
Guy 1: Ooooh so dude is your husband?
Me: (flashing my left hand) Yeah.
Guy 3: Yo that's wrong. You married a White dude?
Guy 2: Why didn't you give brothers a chance.
Me: Who said I didn't?
Guy 3: How many kids you got? Cuz White men only marry Black Women to save them.
Me: Excuse me? I don't have any kids. I'm not the woman to lay down with a guy to have kids unmarried. I have more respect for myself than that.
Guy 1: You could've married a brother.
Me: (laughing) You know you brothers don't marry Black women. Y'all just want to sleep with them, impregnate them and move onto the next chick.
Guy 2: Is it our fault that the girl just didn't come up to par.
Me: Yet you get them pregnant.
Guy 2: So what. I take care of mines. (Thumping his chest)
Me: Are y'all done, cause I have to get back to work.
Guy 3: So why you marry a White guy?
Me: Easy because I love him and he does what a husband is supposed to do. Love me and provide for me.
Guy 1: A brother could do that to.
Me: I'm going to say this to you guys once and I'm going to work. I dated Blacks, Whites, and Latinos. Some were good folks that didn't work out, some were frogs. But in the end it is who I fell in love with proposed to me. It is how you treat people. Race does not come in when it comes to matters of your heart. If you have issues with Black women dating outside our race. Step up your game and become men. Get an education. Get a career. Stop trying to hustle. Respect women, because coming at me they way you did, shows lack of respect. You think you own us as if we're property. We are not your property. So I'm going back to work now. (I turn to leave)
Guy 2: Bitch
I just give him the middle finger and walk in my building.

This is one of rare occurences I get because of my relationship. I really don't care what people think of my relationship. I'm a happiliy married woman. People are not part of it. They are not in my house living with me. And even if they were, they still don't have any rights to say anything about my relationship. This is the 21st century. Interracial relationships should be the norm and not something to gawk at. I'm glad I don't have this issue a lot. It would be tiring. I would start losing more hope in mankind.

So ignorant people, if you see me walking with, kissing, hugging my husband, stay away from me if you know what's best for you.

One Small Step

I follow an instragram account called 'pitbullsofinstagram'. It's a page and a movement to stop Pitbull hate. Pitbulls are not aggressive dogs. They don't attack unconditonally. Do you know that Pits are the most loyal dogs. The bad ones you hear about in the news are trained to be mean. Just like ANY dog, if you don't take the time to train them, then they will be wild. Pits are very lovable and are known to be huggers. They are great around kids and babies. You can't ask for a better dog.

So when I saw a post that a town in Louisiana was putting an ordinance to ban all Rottweilers and Pitbulls I had to sign the petition. People had to get their dogs euthanized or sent out of town by Dec 1st. That is the most assinine and cruel thing ever.

Couple days later, they posted that the petition and public outrage (nationwide) made them reverse the ordinance. Yay!!!

I believe that if we put your heart in it and stick up for what you believe is right, you can accomplish great things. My one signature showed I cared and it brought about a change.

I do wish we can apply this same sentiment to all walks of life. However, life is never fair.

Church... Do you accept me?

I had a very interesting Sunday. I had a house full of guests. However, as exciting the day was, it brought some aggravation and disappointment. I also find it disappointing when conversations turn to the following:

My sister was discussing her church happenings. Her church is looking for a new paster so they've been inviting ministers to guest preach each Sunday, followed by an interview. That's a bit backwards to me, but I digress. Well she was discussing today's guest minister. Apparently he "seems" gay to her and fellow church mate. This was the start of a whole big discussion, which got me heated. My mother and sister are religious, but they are not of the same denomination. My sister is Baptist and is more vocal about her religion. My mother in nondenominational and she's not vocal but you can tell from her behavior and demeanor that she is. Both my mom and my sister do not believe in homosexuality in the church. They both are quick to say that there's nothing in the bible that approves homosexuality. So I'm going to try to write out this conversation as best as my memory can go.

Sister: so this new minister came today to guest preach and he was sweet

Mom: Sweet?

Sister: yeah, you know (fingers snapping in the formation if a "z") "hey"

Mom: oh you think he's gay

Sister: yeah, so we're not going to grant him an interview

Me: why not?

Sister: we do not believe in homosexuals in the church

Me: you have to interview him period

Sister: why?

Me: that's discrimination if you don't. You must treat him the same way you would treat any other candidates

Sister: (gives me a quizzical look)

Me: yeah? A gay person can't believe in God?

Mom: which God do they believe in?

Nephew (who also attends the church): it's not that. He's just not a leader he needs more experience. He's needs to learn more about being a leader. He's just not ready.

Mom: see that is the proper answer (pointing to my sister) yours was not the correct answer

Me: personally, I don't care. As long as he's doing his job to the fullest, whatever he does in the privacy of his bedroom is no concern to me

Sister: he's not ready to lead and we can't have a gay minister. We don't believe in homosexuality

Me: you don't believe in having them in leadership role or part of the congregation?

Sister & Mom: in a leadership role

Me: you made it sound like all parts of the church

Niece (who also goes to the church): the church is very closed minded, when the youth at the church wants to do something, the elders of the church automatically shuts us down without even hearing us out

Sister: (clarifying) this church is an old church. It's over 50 years old. It was created by southerners

Me: do you have any white people in your congregation?

Sister: no

Niece: we've had a few but they are not regulars.

Me: southerners and old people tend to not be kind to interracial relationships, do you think they would accept Jason and myself?

Sister: I don't know

So this whole conversation made me look at my sister and the church a whole lot differently. My sister says she has no issues with gay people. She works with a lot of them and are really close friends to a lot. My mom also says she has no issues with gay people. I really don't know. I wonder how they both would've reacted if my niece or nephew came out as gay. Would they feel the same?

I remember a few years back, my sister came by and she told me that our cousin came out as a Lesbian. I said ok, a bit disinterested. She was a bit incredulous. She couldn't believe it. She was in shock. I didn't really care. My cousin is my cousin regardless of her sexual preference. I will treat her the same regardless. Nothing of importance has changed.

I believe in treating people as people and not by their sexual preference. Sexuality should not be basis in anything. Hell, it shouldn't even be an issue in the news. All people should be able to do anything they want; marriage, children, whatever. People should fall in love with whomever their heart quickens for. This discrimination will not allow for us to grow as people. It just makes us bitter, uncaring people.

Let us try to be tolerant of everyone. Let's make this world a better place for all to live.

Why I stopped following BlogHer on Twitter

I have mixed feelings when it comes to BlogHer. Sometimes I find the site and/or group of women on the site to be extremely rude and snobbish. Sometimes I find them to be very insightful. Sometimes I find them to be all about money. So my outlook on BlogHer was to follow them in Twitter.

I don't have time to sit at my computer to read blog pages and community pages. I rely on Reeder (for blogs), Apps for community pages) and Twitter for everything else. BlogHer tweets require you to click thru to their page to read their posts. I get that, I do it to. Most of my reading is on Reeder like I said, and BlogHer's feed are not full. They only give you a paragraph then you have to click thru to the site. I read solely on the train (no data underground) so I can't read thru. But I do pay attention to the titles on Twitter.

What I notice about their titles are they are based on hot topics that catches attention. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's darn rude. So this brings me to why I'm writing this post. I am sitting here on the train going they Twitter and I see the following tweets from BlogHer:

@BlogHer: Why is #SmartBlackWomenOfTwitter trending? This - > Smartest Women You Should be Following on Twitter http://t.co/XVUH97IwQs -Momo

And

@BlogHer: (And, they're almost ALL WHITE.) The Smartest Women You Should be Following on Twitter http://t.co/XVUH97IwQs -Momo

I took offense of these tweets. Yes I didn't read the article. It may be an uplifting article but the way the tweets are written I find to be a bit "racist". I know they are trying to gather attention so they can get click thru's. I just think this type of attention seeking is just wrong. Why alienate races in the tweet? The tweet pits Black women against White women. Why do that? It just makes online community more defragmented. Isn't BlogHer supposed to bring women together so we can uplift each other? These tweets don't sound so. Do I want to be a part of this community? No. Give me a community where we can all come together for the common good.

I will end this post with the following: No race is smarter than the next. It's all about who wants to apply themselves to learning and bettering themselves.

So long BlogHer, it was an experience.

Michael Douglas... Seriously?!

Seiously?!! Stop misleading people!!! Don't announce things without explanation. "I got cancer from oral sex."

Men have been heading south for centuries and they have not gotten throat cancer!!! What is likely in your situation, you messed with the wrong chick, who may had an infection which led to you getting one.

Oh... Ok so your press people tried to say that you contracted HPV, which led to your cancer. That falls in line with what I stated above. This is a better explanation. I can let you off the hook.

HPV is a virus wildly spread thru various acts of intercourse. The past 4 to 5 years, they have been promoting a vaccination for teenagers and kids. There's none for adults. HPV is one direct link to developing cervical cancer in women.

I believe you now Mike. If it causes women cancer it can cause you cancer. Just please refrain from saying something without proper explanations. You make yourself look like an idiot. Which results in social media blasting responses and comments about your stupidity.

Thanks for sharing though. Now I have a bad mental image of you heading down south. Ugh.. Gross.

The Scarest Thing This Morning.

As I am running late this morning, I get off of the 5 subway line at Atlantic Ave, making my way to the stairs to make a transfer to another train, there is a lot of commotion by one door. I automatically assumed someone was sick. I couldn't fathom something any worse, until I saw it with my own eyes. A old apparently was exiting the train and her foot slipped between the train and platform. You have people trying to hold her up so she doesn't slip down any further. You have woman screaming and running to the conductor "Stop the train! Don't move the train!"

There were enough people there to assist her so I didn't need to stop for assistance. I tried to tell people on the way down that the train won't moving any time soon due to the incident. That was my way to get people to seek an alternative route. Some people acted sympathetic and some people acted like jackasses. That's how people are; some like to be jerks than positive with a moral compass.

I am now currently on my alternate train and my adrenaline is still flowing. I want to cry for that poor woman. I wish her safety and that she will be safe and not lose her foot. I hope the MTA, NYPD, EMS and whomever comes assist her with grace and humility. She is scared and she needs to be handled with care. The rest, I leave in God's hands as I make my way to work (late).

The Pervert Next Door

I moved back to NY in 2001, 5 months before 9/11. I was in my 20s and still in fighting shape (better shape than I am now). Upon my arrival, my neighbor next door to me would always say hello. I would be polite back and say hello back. Every now and then we'd make small talk about music and movies. His wife is nice.

Throughout the years I would catch him watching me. You know the look. The one where he's practically undressed you with his eyes. I still didn't pay any attention to him. Why would I? He had never made any moves on me at this time. He looked at my BFF a lot too since she was living with us at that point. We nicknamed him "Pervert".

Once everyone moved out and I was left by myself, the advances started. He would catch me in my backyard unexpectedly. I didn't cower or be afraid. I continued being myself and living my life. I stopped being very cordial with him though. I was still friendly with his wife though. He still continue to try  to talk to me. He got me once and I asked him "what about your wife? Don't you feel bad about trying to step out in her?". He bluntly said it's not like he hasn't before. I immediately felt that he was a predator at that point. I thought he was just a pervert who just got thrills by hitting on younger women. This man was much creepier.

My brother ended up moving in with me. His overt advances stopped. Then the covert ones started. He invited me and my brother to events. I would turn all invitations down. I told my brother to stay away from him and he was not good people. Then war started. He would go on my property and I would say something to him and his wife. I didn't care. This was his way to get me to talk to him. It worked for a while. It stopped when my husband moved in with me. Soon afterwards I dropped a note telling him if his vehicles are on my property without permission it would be towed on his dime. Then he stopped talking to me. Yep it took me getting married to get him to leave me alone. My husband has given him cordial salutations knowing what he has done to me. He wouldn't even respond back. My husband would say he was a weird creepy guy.

One night this year, I was home alone (brother and hubby were at work) I was dead asleep when a blood curdling screaming coming from next door. It was pervert's wife. So I did what was necessary and called the police. I was petrified that pervert was going to come after me. Took me a day or 2 to get over it. Apparently he's been beating her for years. This however was only the icing on the cake.

I was at work when my husband text me that "Pervert" was arrested for having sex with an under-aged girl! I was happy that finally something had finally happened to him. He will meet some justice. He made it to the NY Post (article here).  He even made it to Bossip.com (post here). He's gotten notoriety now. He's exposed for being a pervert. His little secrets are no longer. NYC at least knows that he's a sex offender.

I do feel bad about how this played out for his wife though. She has had to know for years that this man was no good. I am also sure that this young girl is not the only girl out there. I wish they would just come forward and let the world know that this man is no good. As I finish this post, he is home on bail.

Since his arrest, I've had nightmares about him. This post has been my way of purging my inner demon. I want to thank you for reading this post. But it has made my chest and mind lighter. Now if my other demons could get exorcised, I'd fly high like a kite.

Bullying = Senseless

Bullying. It has been getting a lot of press these days, but it has been around since we evolved/created (don't want any drama). Has it gotten any worse as the years go by? I believe it has. Society has changed over the years. Today's society is not as wholesome as it is. Our society now runs on violence, sex and money. There isn't any kindness to our fellow man. Everyone is out for themselves. (This is a generalization, don't take it literally because there are people out there with heart). Bullying has taken on a more sinister effect. Kids who haven't even experienced life are cutting it short to escape the madness caused by bullying.

I decided to reflect on my past. There are many things I don't wish to discuss, because it was very colorful, but I do remember I've had many distinct experiences with being bullied. Never were violent but the psychological type. I decided to open up and discuss them in this post. Maybe someone can read it and take something from it.

I'll start in elementary school. I would get teased mercilessly on my body. You see I come from a very voluptuous family; both sides. All the women have ample boobs and butts. I was not an exception. However, even though I was skinny, my butt was more pronounced. I remember the girls would grab my butt and ask if I stuffed tissue in my panties to get a butt like mine. The more this happened, the more I felt ashamed of it. I would beg my mom to buy very baggy pants. Nothing really covered it. So I was pretty much doomed. I remember telling my mom that when I get enough money that I was going to get a butt reduction. My butt has been my sore spot most of my life. I've never really embraced it. I now tolerate it and can deal with it, but I still have the nagging inner mind telling me that my butt is an eyesore and it should be removed. Will I ever embrace it? I don't know. It's all the rage today to have a big butt. People are even going thru cosmetic procedures to get what I have naturally. This still doesn't make me feel any better. Try finding a pair of jeans that fit perfectly.

Next is growing up on my block. There were many of us the same age growing up. I used to hang out with a lot of them when my mom permitted me to play outside. There was a set of fraternal twins, boy and girl, who everyone believe to be the most pretty. Everyone wanted to be their good friends. Let's call the Kiki & Ken. Kiki was close to my friend who lived across from me. She was nice to me. I usually played a lot with 2 other girls on the block. I remember Ken always made faces at me or said mean things to me. I never really played with him because he was mean to me. I did play with the other boys on the block. A new family moved onto the block who had 2 boys. They were cute, but I wasn't interested in them like that. Ken came up to me one day and told me that neither of the 2 boys would want to be my friend because I'm ugly and have "N---a naps". Of course that hurt me deeply. He would hammer that point in every time he saw me. I hated him so much. I still don't care for him. In JHS I started seeing this Puerto Rican guy who everyone in school clamored after. How I got him is still a mystery to me. Well he came home with me one day to meet my mom. We were pretty close. I would say he was my 1st love at that point if time. He was there for me thru a lot. Anyway, I digress. After Ken saw my boyfriend, he decided to confront me after he left. He never did say anything to me when my boyfriend was around. He said he doesn't know how the idiot liked me. It must be because I was breaking him off a piece. I was a virgin and only thing me and my boyfriend did was kissing. How could Ken say that? My sister told me that he was just jealous. I don't believe that he was. If he wasn't putting me down, he never paid me any attention. He was just mean spirited. His remarks and behavior really did take a toll on my esteem. I felt ugly and unlikable. I never understood why the guys I dated liked me. I wasn't gorgeous. I still don't see what my husband sees in me either. This is the lingering effect of Ken constantly telling me I'm ugly most of my childhood, my most impressionable time. We all set up how we view ourselves in adolescence.

I was deeply scarred growing up. I was the ugly girl with a big butt. This self hate has been deeply etched into who I am. Could I do without it? Yes. I wish I was more confident about my look and my body. I wish my mom help instill me with self confidence. I had to learn to be confident on my own. It's a struggle that I have to this day.

I just learned that somebody almost killed my nephew at college because if bullying. They put baby oil on the floor in front of his place. When he came out he slipped ad banged his head really hard. Could've killed him. This didn't faze him. He's never let bullies take away his confidence. We've raised him to be confident and self assured. If your meet him, you'd fall in love with him. Everyone remembers who he is where ever he goes.

I understand the torment our youth are facing daily. What they are experiencing can last in their psyche for the rest of their life. Once a youth is bullied, as a parent, all you can do is try to make them overcome them and hope that all the torment they've endured will make them productive and not let them turn into despair. Make them feel special and loved.

Everyone can get more information on bullying and how to protect yourself and their kids at the Trevor Project. Please support our youth and stop insensitive and senseless violence.

Happenings in the world

While I was quiet on my blog for an experience to discuss later, a lot of shit has happened in the world. Well shit I find annoying and of interest at least.

The Olympics:

I would love to say I'm watching it, but I'm not. I don't care for sports. If I'm around someone who's watching it, I will pay attention to it. I won't seek it out on my own. I do listen to all smattering on the news and Internet. What has really been nagging me is this whole issue on Gabby's hair. Why are you concentrating inher hair. The young girl set records and won Gold for America. Instead of uplifting her, everyone is trying to tear her down over HAIR!! Not everyone concentrates on heir appearance. Looking at the pictures, there was nothing wrong it. It was put back into a bun. Gabby was concentrating on being a fantastic athlete instead of spending exorbatant time in the hair salon. I'm sure all he haters out there who made the comments don't have a thing going for them except for being some man's side piece.

Go America! Go Jamaica!

Geraldo Blames Chicago Murders on Thug Wear

This article has caused some uproar. I agree with him and disagree. No one should be murdered wrongfully. Who is it for another person to end someone's life? You are not God or some other Diety. There should be better control on guns.

Growing up, my mother drilled in me, "your first appearance will be what someone will make an assumption of you on, so make sure you present yourself properly." This is what is missing in today's society. I understand each generation has their own styles, but as the generations come, we've stuck in one awful style; THUG wear. So now when people look at young men today, they automatically think they are a gangbanger. Whether you are or not, you will be automatically associated as such. You could be a honor student and all round good guy, but if you walk outside looking like a thug, you will be thought of as one. Parents need to nip this in he bud. Don't let your child leave your house looking like that. My mother and father made me change everytime I try to sneak outside wearing my generation's style. One time I snuck the clothes out and changed at a friend's house. The result of my defiance, was unwanted attention from the opposite sex.

We need to try to stop our youth from looking like thugs and street vermin. Have our youh look like promising individuals. That is what I believe Geraldo was trying to say. As an employer, I will discriminate on a person coming in for an interview wearing their pants hanging off of their ass. I don't want anyone looking like that representing my company.

You can watch on the subway, people only hold stuff tightly when a thug looking person goes near them. It's not racism that everyone want to throw out there. It is because he looks like a thug. I can go on and on, but I'm getting worked up so I'm going to end this topic here.

People Today Are Way Beyond Cruel

People today are so horrible it is upsetting. Why can't people move on from hurt and upsets without inflicting harm on someone?

You accidentally step on someone's shoe. Today it's can be a life or death situation. On the wrong person's shoe can get you killed.

You break up from a relationship can cost you numerous injustices. You can be blacklisted from jobs, your health could be in danger or worse you could be dead.

I've been noticing these trends more and more often these days. This is sad. People can't resolve conflicts without violence. Don't people realize life is precious and shouldn't be taken because of frivolous situation? What are parents teaching their children? What are teachers teaching our kids? Why is movies and television the dictator of what's right and what's wrong. Who should be accountable for all of this? Parents want to blame TV. Politicians want to blame the Internet. Everyone wants to point fingers, but they don't want to do anything about it.

What started me on this post was this article. The man was a fool for going to his ex for dental work. However, no matter how hurt you are, one should not mess with a person's health. She was hurt yes. But removing all of his teeth was incredulous. There is no reason for that. Yes he hurt your feelings. So do you have to ruin his life?

Sometimes I wonder why I want to be a part of this society. It's just getting worse and worse. It will not be a natural disaster that will make humans extinct. It will be a human to do so. I've been hurt in y life too. I've moved on and found a great guy. If things don't work out between us and we would have to divorce, I would soul crushingly hurt. However, I wouldn't want to inflict revenge that can cost him his lively hood or his life. I would probably find the nearest pool of despair and wallow in it. I'll eventually emerge and move on with my life.

As for this dentist, I wish her nothing but the worst for using her profession to cause evil. I hope she has to pay the man for all his surgeries and new teeth and the maintenance of them for the rest of her and his life. Disgraciado.

Laters..

What do you think should be the outcome of the dentist situation?

Domestic Violence is Never Okay

I've had a few weeks worth of domestic violence issues. Not in my personal life but close to home, celebrity life and in the blogosphere. It is never okay for either spouse to lay hands on each other. Not is it okay for either spouse to verbally put each other down. Warfare is not conducive to a healthy relationship. All relationships have ups and downs, arguments, and stress. Everyone is an individual. You cannot control them. Relationships are built on compromises and trust.

Approximately 3 weeks ago, my honey and I were awaken by my neighbors having a heated argument. We live in a row houses, so hearing thru the walls can be done if they are loud. They were so loud that we heard their words. The husband said he was moving out. I was pretty happy about that for reasons I do not care to share. Two days later he was still in the house. A week later, I was home alone. I had the television turned up loud when I heard blood curdling screams from the wife. That's how loud they were. So I called the police anonymously. I feel that it was the best thing to do. I wanted this man to know that it was not okay. I actually wanted him arrested. I know the wife was not going to press charges. Abused women don't until it's way too late. I just want the cops to at least have a record that they've been there before if she winds up dead.

I called my mom to tell her what happened so if I'm attacked by the spouse she knows who did it. She tells me that this has been going on for over 15 years. I was shocked. I asked her if she did anything. She said she didn't. I was shocked she didn't. She has been a nurse for over 30 years and seen what these women have experienced. She said she didn't want to be involved. How is she involved is she calls the police? Doing so could save a woman's life. I called my honey and told him what I'd done. He thanked me. I just don't understand people stance on "minding their own business" when it comes to domestic violence. I would want someone to call for me if my spouse was hitting on me. However, my honey knows that if he laid one hand on me I will tear his ass up, call the police and press charges. I don't play that.

Three years ago, Chris Brown beat the crap out of Rihanna. Her bruised face was plastered all over the news and Internet. She didn't press charges but the state did, thank God. He had probation, community service, and take anger management courses. He was also ordered to keep away from Rihanna. If she attended an award show he couldn't. It's been 3 years now, probation, restraining order and courses are done. He get a a Grammy award for his current album. Now Rihanna decides to make a song with him. Why? Money talks and personal matters walk. However, what does this message send to our young women? They will think it's okay to stay with their abusers. I agree with a blog post by Mama by The Bay. Her post speaks volumes to what I want to say. I'm just not as witty as she is.

I would like to take this post to remind all if that you see a woman or man being abused by their other half, do something. You don't have to get in middle of the conflict personally. All you have to do is call the police. Don't let violence continue to happen. Imagine that person is your child. Don't just walk away.

Tattoos And Our Youth

"Bananamuffin says FML 3/30/2012
Today, I realized that the "holla" tattoo I stupidly got on my lower lip five years ago isn't fading as I expected it to, and will probably contribute to my unemployment for years to come. FML"

I just read this on FML.com. It's a site the allows users to vent their embarrassments. It's a very entertaining read. It usually has me laughing or shaking my head in pure distrust. Are all the posts real? I don't know and it won't bother me if they were not. However, this post touched a topic that I feel strongly about; youth and tattoos.

I'm all for tattoos, I have one of my own. My concern is how the youth are abusing it. Tattoos are glamorous to our youth. They see them glorified on television and movies; with celebrities adorning showing them off. But they do not see the impacts of tattoos in their life. Tattoos are much more accepted today than they were in the past, but they are still frowned upon.

My mother didn't take too kindly to mine or my brothers, but she couldn't really do anything about it. She did lecture us when we were young about marking up our bodies. She claims that once you get a tattoo, you become a marked person. Everyone will be able to identify you. To me that wasn't a downfall, but more of a benefit. Say something happened to me and my face and dental records were unidentifiable, my tattoo would be another form of identification. I thought long and hard about getting my tattoo because I knew it is a permanent addition. I thought long and hard where I wanted to place the tattoo too. I ended up putting it on the inside of my right ankle. Why did I put it there? This is my reasoning:
1. That area will stay the same size if I gain or lose weight.
2. It is not very noticeable in a skirt.
Location of your tattoo is important. It can determine a lot about you and your future. As Bananamuffin is realizing now, she should have have thought about before she got a tattoo on her lip. Who will want to hire her? Maybe a tattoo parlor? Telemarketer? If you have tattoos on your face and hands, let's say you have a slim chance of getting a decent job in corporate America. If you have a tattoo at all you will not work for the FBI or CIA as an operative. You can't have any identifying marks.

We see celebrities like L'ilWayne and Angelina Jolie having tats. Wayne moreso than Jolie.

L'il Wayne has tats all over his face, but he makes a lot money where he doesn't have to look for a job. When he got his record deal, he didn't have them.

Angelina Jolie has a lot of tats, but they are not on her face or hands. Only ones you can see are the ones on her upper arms.

What would happen if Wayne lost all his money, businesses and fame and had to search for a job? He would probably have to work in construction or something that he does not have to work with clients. He may not even be able to work. If the same happened to Jolie, she would be more successful. Why? She looks presentable and will have a good face for representing a company.

As parents of youth, you should discuss tattoos with them so they don't make decisions like Bananamuffin. You should discuss all the negative repercussions and positive things about tattoos. You want them to make informed decisions then stupid impulsive decisions that can ruin their future. Tattoos will always be an attractive element in all generations. It's all about how we communicate to our youth what's appropriate and what's not. They'll probably just ignore us anyway and do something stupid. Regret is costly and painful.

They Wanna Keep Us Women Down

Lately I've been feeling a lot of hate and negativity towards women. I've been Reading it online, in newspapers and have been dealing with it at work. At first I believed it was a racial thing, but it has grown to include women of all colors. Is it because we are surpassing men? It is not our fault that men are not stepping up to the plate.

I don't believe in conspiracies. I find them ridiculous. I rather deal with facts. When you here about the most popular TV shows, the women tend to be a bit idiotic; Jersey Shore, Basketball Wives, Bachelor, etc. The more idiotic the more ratings. It's a trend I've been noticing. I am really not in arms about it. TV is about capitalism and all they trying to do is make money. It still hurts us as women.

You have the republicans trying to send women back into the house and do what the man says. They are trying to pass laws (that taking away funding from organizations like Planned Parenthood that provide services for women) that give men the right to tell us what we can do to our bodies. All the hard work we women have gone thru to get where we are, equals in knowledge not in pay (unless it's porn), to have a party erase it. This bothers me a great deal. I hate politics though. All politicians are out for themselves or the highest bidder, never for the people. That's how I see it.

What really upset me was a series of tweets from a DJ here on the East Coast named EdLover. They were just bad assumptions about women. I may have been in a mood that day when the tweets came out, but it still bothers me. Maybe because I used to like listening to him. But I found it hurtful to women. I am not the type of woman he's generalizing, but it bothers me. If he thinks it's all this fun and jokes then he is really an idiot.

Some women have responded to him on twitter. I responded too. I at least wanted to voice my opinion if he's allowed to. We all generalize every now and then. I do it every now and then but not to bring anyone down. I can generalize that most men are rapists. It isn't true, but it makes all men look bad. If I put it in a public forum, some idiot will believe me and assume all men are rapists. Below are screen shots of the tweet train of EdLover's tweets, responses and my response.

Hopefully we can start changing people's hearts with positivity and not spout out generalizations that bring on another down.

Pants Sagging

This trend that has gotten very old and disgusting of wearing pants sagging. The waist of the pants are below or just at the lower half of the bottom. This gives everyone around a view of your briefs or boxers. This trend is mostly a male one, but I've seen women doing the same.

There are a few theories on how this trend started. However, they all started in prisons.
One theory is that belts were removed from clothing because of its use as a weapon; self inflicting or not. So prisoners pants were always sagging.

Another theory, was prisoners who chose larger size prison gear so the sag signaled that the prisoner was open to male on male sex.

Somehow or somewhere, some show or someone of influence was glorifying the look. Then it became a thing to do. They even have a name for it; "Swag."

This is a disgusting trend. I am not a crack addict but I am constantly seeing it. Our young and even grown men are doing this. I as a person will not hire anyone who wear their clothes like that. I won't even date a man wearing his pants like that. I won't acknowledge anyone either. Call it being mean or being a snob; I don't care. I want this trend gone.

Couple of weeks ago, I read a post on The Consumerist talking about US Airways pilots taking a stand. Basically, pick up your pants or get off the plane. Why couldn't all pilots do this?

Hampton, GA passed a bill/law fining people for the look. Wish all states would adopt this bill/law. It's a great step in erasing this trend.

Why are people allowing this to continue? Why don't parents put a stop to it with their children. Why hire then? I don't want anyone like that representing me or my company. Why don't express our disapprovals regularly? No family member of mine was ever allowed to follow the trend. I understand people want to be cool and fit in, but this isn't a way.

I think gov't right now can get this trend gone. If men were being fined heavily on a daily basis, it will be gone. Cities will be making a killing in revenue and our federal deficit will be cut in half.

Imagine what a wonderful world ours would be if we no longer had to see crack.

Rant & Rave: What Women Should Know

I am a firm believer that all people should learn everything that effects them on a personal level. What I am experiencing in the field is that a lot of young women these days have no clue about their finances.

A lot of these young women are not taught by their parents how to manage their personal wealth. They have accountants who does all that. If their accountant is ripping them off, they would have no clue. I understand people don't like doing taxes and all that financial stuff. You should at least learn it so you can make sure you are not taken for a ride. Take a class, learn from a friend in the field, or read discussions on websites. The object is to learn.

Also if these young women get married, they have no idea what' happening with their money because the husband handles all the finances. Know your stuff. If you get divorced you will end up losing out on a lot because you were in the dark. It is so sad when I hear that a woman was left destitute because her husband, boyfriend or accountant took full advantage of their ignorance.

We should teach our children about finance as they grow. This way they are educated. This way they won't be taken advantage of in life. They will also know the value of a dollar. They will learn not to purchase more than they can afford. Oh the horror stories I've heard on women bouncing checks and nearly homeless because of ignorance. This really hurts my heart.

We need to stop the ignorance. If parents won't teach it, maybe the schools should. It is very important to learn. This ends my rant.

Rants & Rave - Medieval Times

Every now and then I have something to rant about. This time is about all the left or right wing, bible thumping idiots who believe gov't should have control over women's bodies. We are heading back in time instead moving forward in time.

Women fought hard for their independence. Why should we let all that hardship go to waste? Men do not and should not have any control to what we as women do with our bodies.

As you can tell, I probably lean towards the political term of "pro-choice." I hate politics so I say I am myself and have my own convictions and beliefs. I am not siding with any group. I don't have a political party on my voters registration card. I vote when needed based upon what the candidate believes they can do to benefit the fellow people.

How dare gov't, bible thinkers and the rest think that gov't should have control over women's reproductive rights? If a woman wants an abortion, that's her right. I'm not saying abortion is best use for contraception. No it's not. It's a last step to a very sordid event. It should be available to specific issues.

If a woman is raped and she gets pregnant from it, why should she carry it full term? It's like being raped everyday for 9 months. She should have right to end the pregnancy if she wants. If teenagers are abusing this it is not because it's available. It is because the parents are not teaching their kids about sex nor are they being loving and understanding to their kids. Most kids learn about sex from watching TV and movies. Then when something happens to the child, the parents disown and kick their children out of the house. So you have this fear factor that makes them abuse an alternative.

If a woman finds outs that her fetus is severely deformed and it will take a lot of money she does not have to raise this child, why should she keep it. If she bring it to term and she has no means to give the child adequate healthcare and the child dies. She's going to be sent to prison for neglect. How is that right? America can't provide insurance for all of it's citizens, but want to put you on the streets because you can't pay the huge nearly criminal medical fees.

If the woman's fetus is going to die or has died in her womb she should not have to carry around a dead fetus.

As you see I call it a fetus, not a child. It is not a child until the last trimester of pregnancy. All abortions take place in the 1st trimester when the fetus is not fully formed. It is just a mass of cells and the "soul" is not even there yet.

As we start taking away women's rights one by one, we soon again be unheard and ignored. Treated as if we do not matter in affairs of business and only concern ourselves with staying home, cooking and cleaning.

If politics continue this way, I will leave this country. Everything this country stood for is dead anyway. All the freedoms granted or one by one being stripped away. Country is starting to be owned by large corporations. I for one will not stand around and be patriotic when I see these injustices happening.

Until next time when I have another issue that makes me rant and rave.

Kids Need Discipline and Not Hand Holding

Have you been to a nice restaurant and your experience us shattered because of a bratty kid? When you take a flight somewhere, don't you dread having children on the flight? Have you been to the movies and get mad because you hear the bratty kid instead of the movie? My opinion the reason is because the parents don't really give a damn about disciplining their children. They let them run amuck. They hand hold and say in a very nonauthoritive voice "don't do that" and expect the child to listen.

Kids need discipline. They need to know who is in charge. It certainly should not be them. Parenting rules in today's time are very lax. We need to revert to the 20s or so. You still find kids are disciplined correctly in other countries. It's only Americans who refuse to discipline. I guess it's unconstitutional.

This is why our children face so many problems and so do the parents. Teen pregnancy, drugs, violence, and lack of respect for their fellow man are some symptoms. Parents, why have kids if you don't want to raise them?

Children need to be taught right from wrong. They need guidance. You need to discuss issues with them. You can't let TV or the schools teach your child about life. You as a parent should; especially about SEX. You need to be the major influence in their lives. You can't be too busy to spend time with your child.

You also should set an example for your child. You want them to respect you and look up to you. You want them to talk to you when they have problems. You want them to make safe and sound decisions. You want them to choose their friend wisely. You want them to be successful human beings.

Start paying attention and doing what's right for your child. Stop letting run around without a leash. Not a physical one, and metaphorical one. Set boundaries. When I was a kid, I must be in the house by 7 pm SHARP!!! No if ands or buts. If I was late, I was punished. I'd lose a bit of freedom for a while. Kids should not be out on the street after 7 pm. There is nothing outside for them after that. That was one of my leashes.

You must teach your kid how to behave in public. I don't remember how my mom trained me on this, but I know how I taught my niece and nephew. I discussed the trip before we left and told them the consequences if they acted up. They knew who was in charge and who they were safe with. They were never any trouble to take around. Parents let there kids throw tantrums and fits in public because they don't have the authoritative power needed. If a kid cries for something he/she shouldn't have and you cower to the crying. Who won the battle? The kid did. You may gotten a quiet kid for a while, but you lost your authority. He/she now knows that to get what he/she wants all they have to do is make a big fuss. So you now have a bratty child. Your life is going to be miserable. You are now the servant.

Teach your kids manners. What happened to them? You don't hear "may I", "please" or "thank you" from kids anymore. They are rude. They have this sense of entitlement. Parents please teach your kids to respect their fellow man. This sense of entitlement without manners and respect leads to violence when things in life don't go their way.

Kids are so bad these days that restaurants are banning customers with children. They'd rather deal with a drunk adult. Malls are banning kids from coming in without a parent. Theaters are banning children after certain times. Do you see a pattern? The rate things are going, kids will only be allowed at school and home. I'm planning on having a child in the near future and I'm scared because the kids out here are so awful. I know there are good kids out there. For the parents of those, thank you very much. We need to get our children straightened out before it's too late.

Hale N Hearty Soup = HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Today we had to wait nearly 2.5 hrs for our soup.  So our Sales Operations Mgr at my company decided to write in to them to tell them how unhappy we were with their service today. He gets an email back from the CEO!!! I am not sure if he was being sincere or an ass. But he's sure is cocky as a motherfucker. There's no apology for the disorganization of  his staff. I'm sure if he ordered something & it took nearly 2.5 hrs he'd be bitching & calling everyone & their supervisor as to where his stuff is. This apology was not heartfelt. Just his way of being dick.

Here's the email:

thx for your email.

I apologize for the poor service today.

Plz understand that on a day like today, we are everyone's first choice for soup, and also, tons of people don't want to leave their offices, which causes a huge spike in orders.

The delivery dept gets overwhelmed and is struggling to keep up throughout lunch.

I will gladly arrange a free replacement meal whenever you’d like it. Plz call the store and ask for one of the managers when you want it, and they'll arrange it.

On days with inclement weather such as this, I advise customers, if they really cant get to the store, to either order VERY early or to order from someone else.

Again, my apologies.

I placed an order today at 12:20 PM and it’s now 2:11 PM and still no food. Your restaurant is 2 blocks from my office. On top of this, is your poor customer service. I was given a delivery window of 1:20 to 1:50. After it taking nearly 20 minutes to get a hold of someone at your restaurant I’m told my food is still at the restaurant with no idea as to how long it will take to get to me. Yum, soggy salad and cold soup for lunch, my favorite!

There was not even an attempt to call me to tell me that my lunch will be 30 to 60 minutes late.

I am telling you now that I am NEVER ordering from your restaurant again. You have so much competition in New York City that I can just go elsewhere next time to a restaurant that values their customers.

Rants and Ramblings: What's Been On My Mind

1. Teens and Adults : Leniency After Committing a Crime?
I'm tired of hearing that the courts should be lenient to those who commits a crime. I don't care if it's their 1st or 10th time. If you commit the crime you should do the time. You knew doing the act it was illegal. You had a choice whether to follow thru or not. You chose to follow thru so prepare to take the consequences.

2. Hood Rat Looking Men/Boys
If you want to continue to wear your pants hanging off your ass and looking like an ignorant fool, don't get pissed when the rest of us in society don't acknowledge you as a productive part of society. I'm all for self expression as the next person. How is it self expression when more than one of you are doing it? If a guy dressed as stated came in for an interview I would not even bother interviewing him. He is not what I would to represent my company. You look like a thug, a criminal and not worth my respect. So therefore, I will not acknowledge you. You can be a sweet guy, but your outer wear I see first. First impressions stick!!!

3. Excessive Tattoos
Yes tattoos are cool and hot. Everyone wants them. Hell, I even have one. It's not hidden but it's not very noticable. Just the way they should be. I know the history of tattoos. I also know that our youth are so into getting so many tattoos in the most awful places: necks, hands, faces. They don't think about their future. Not everyone can become rappers. Where else would hire you? Companies are not going to want you to represent them. Put the tattoos where they can be hidden at work and during an interview. No matter how popular tattoos are they still have a negative conotation in corporate America. Would want to go to a bank and the teller looks like sn ex-con? Would you want your doctor to look like that? All the people on TV with all the tattoos do not work for corporate America. But they pretty much had to own their business in order to get paid. And most of them didn't have all the tattoos when they started. They only did when their business was viable and self-sustaining. They knew they wouldn't get financing/backing if they looked like an ex-con. Banks/Venture Capitalists will not take you seriously even if you present a winning proposal in front of them. They will not get past your looks. So please keep the tattoos away from the face, neck and hands. You will be doing yourself a big favor.

4. Where have manners and courtesy gone?
Has everyone gone rude? Why aren't parents teaching their children manners and common courtesy? As a kid I was taught you must respect your elders. Kids nowadays do not. They will disrespect their own parents as well as their teachers and any adult they encounter. And the adults are just as bad.
That's all for now. I have more but they are not as high profile as the above 4. Stay tuned. You get more or maybe not. It was just good to get these off of my chest.
